Nooks & Nannies is a values-driven organization that provides both long term and short term, full time and part time placement services to families in Vancouver. Our flexible and holistic approach combines both child care and housekeeping services to families in Vancouver, British Columbia.
We recognize that just as your family is unique and ever changing, so are your needs. On some days, the focus may be child care, or it could be that you want someone to clean your home or shop for groceries and prepare dinner for that evening. The choice is yours. Our aim is to nurture the whole family, and to support the opportunity for you to spend more quality time together.

We personally interview and screen all of our highly qualified staff. We recruit locally and take the time to hire only exceptional individuals who are experienced in child care, or who have Early Childhood Education diplomas. People who exemplify our core values, those who are passionate about children and families, are relationship-oriented, have practical life skills, are versatile, flexible, dynamic and who above all have the ability to integrate these values into their daily actions. All applicants are live out, and are required to submit to us a current criminal record check, references (who we personally contact), St. John's Ambulance or Canadian Red Cross approved CPR and first aid for children, Food Safe certification, a driver's abstract and proof of legal entitlement to work in Canada.
The total cost of our personalized placement service is $825 for a full time placement and $525 for part time (less than 30 hours per week) + HST and the hourly wage is $17 per hour.

The purpose of this exercise is to be able to match your family with the staff person who shares similar values and definitions with you - someone who will honour and exemplify your values, and who understands the specific needs of your family and who will work together with you.

No charge is made until you make an offer of employment to the applicant. The standard wage for Nooks & Nannies workers is $17.00 per hour.
Upon an accepted offer of employment, Nooks & Nannies will provide you with a personalized contract that clearly outlines your needs and the duties to be performed. This will be reviewed, signed by both parties, and returned to us. After all contracts have been signed we will send you an invoice for $175.00 plus HST. This is a one-time placement fee.
We want to be able to offer you some guarantees to make this process a positive experience. Within the first two weeks of employment Nooks & Nannies will check in with you to make sure the placement is working out to your satisfaction. If necessary, we are happy to offer a mediation service to aid in communication during this initial stage of employment. However, if within the first two months of employment the staff person resigns, or you terminate their position, Nooks & Nannies will connect you with another qualified pre screened applicant as soon as possible. Be advised we can only offer this option once during the first two months of the contract.
It will be your responsibility as the employer to abide by the Employment Standards laws of British Columbia and to be in compliance with current Canada Revenue Agency tax laws, and to have WorkSafe BC coverage. Nooks and Nannies provides payroll assistance to clients. Our comprehensive service includes registration and account set up with Canada Revenue Agency and WorkSafe B.C, semi monthly payroll calculations and administration, annual tax preparation and filing services. The cost is $12.50 per week per employee.

On some days your work will be child care and on other days, outside of childcare, it could be housekeeping duties (such as grocery shopping, cooking & cleaning). The first step in the hiring process is to send us a cover letter and resume. Before a placement can be arranged, we will require a current, police clearance (vulnerable sector), three references, St. John's Ambulance or Canadian Red Cross approved CPR and First Aid for children, a current Food Safe certificate, and if applicable, a driver's abstract. We are looking for candidates with an Early Childhood Education background, Postpartum Doula certificate, or extensive child care/nanny experience. We are passionate about families and children and are committed to providing service excellence.
