Nooks & Nannies is Jayne & Dawn. We are the passionate parents of young children and we understand the experiences and ever changing needs of families. It is this passion that informs us of our business practice and hiring principles. We simply want to provide you and your family with the best in child care.

Nooks & Nannies is a local agency that provides live out, full time and part time placement services to families in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.

We recognize that just as your family is unique and ever changing, so are your needs.  The aim of our agency is to accomodate your needs and nurture the whole family.

Nooks & Nannies will accommodate your needs by connecting you with one of our amazing staff members who will be there to work with you.

We personally interview and screen all of our highly qualified staff. We recruit locally and take the time to hire only exceptional individuals who are experienced in child care, or who have Early Childhood Education diplomas. People who exemplify the core values of our agency, those who are passionate about children and families, are relationship-oriented, have practical life skills, are versatile, flexible, dynamic and who above all have the ability to integrate these values into their daily actions. All applicants are live out, and have a current criminal record check, references (who we personally contact), St. John's Ambulance or Canadian Red Cross approved CPR and first aid for children, Food Safe certification, a driver's abstract and proof of legal entitlement to work in Canada.

Nooks & Nannies Recruitment, Placement, Payroll And Support Services

 

FULL SERVICE

It takes from 4 - 8 weeks for us to recruit and place a nanny. The total cost of our personalized recruitment, placement and screening service is $1675.00 + GST for a part time placement (less than 30 hours per week) and $1875.00 for a full time placement + GST. The hourly wage payable to the nanny is $15.00 - $20.00 per hour. Payroll is not included, but we can provided this service if required.

 

SELF SERVICE

If you have recruited a nanny/ housekeeper independently, the following services that we offer may be helpful and reassuring. You are welcome to use some or all of the following:

1. We will interview the candidate at our office and provide you with notes, feedback. advice and support. The cost is $225.00.

2. Using our standard 21 questions, we will call the candidates references and provide you with a report for each one. The cost is $45.00 per reference check.

3. Criminal record check. The cost is $60.00.

We can also provide you with a fully comprehensive nanny/ housekeeper payroll service. We can also register you with Worksafe B.C and C.R.A. The cost is a one time registration fee of $50.00 and then $12.50 per week for each employee.

 

THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS

  1. We really want to get to know you, and be able to connect you and your family with the absolute best nanny that we have available. Someone you feel that you can trust, who can make a long term commitment, who shares your values and philosophy, and who you can communicate and connect with. To start this process, please take some time to complete the Details and Values form on this website, or call us to discuss your specific needs in detail.
  2. The next step that we take is to carefully review the information that you have submitted to us, and then we recruit a  nanny for your family.
  3.  We share everything with our families, including our interview notes and reference checks. We will send a copy of the nannies profiles to you for review, and arrange interviews between yourself and the nannies of your choice.
  4. We understand that hiring a nanny is a big decision that affects all family members. For this experience to be a positive process, we want to offer you and your family some supportive options and guarantees. After you have interviewed the nannies of your choice, and feel that you have met the ideal candidate, prior to making an offer of employment, you may wish to arrange to have a few paid training days with them.
  5. If after the training days, you wish to make an offer of employment, Nooks and Nannies will provide you with an employment contract template. You can personalize this to reflect your specific needs, and then review this with your nanny. It is at this time that we will send you an invoice for our recruitment services. However, if within the first 3 months of employment, your nanny resigns, or if the position is terminated by yourself, on a one time basis, Nooks & Nannies will connect you with another candidate as soon as possible. If after 3 months, but before 6 months, the Nanny/Housekeeper resigns, or if the position is terminated by yourself, Nooks and Nannies will work hard to find you a replacement at a rate reduced by 50%.
  6. It will be your responsibility as the employer to abide by the Employment Standards laws of British Columbia and to be in compliance with current Canada Revenue Agency tax laws, and to have WorkSafe BC coverage. Our agency can provide payroll assistance to clients. Our comprehensive service includes registration and account set up with Canada Revenue Agency and WorkSafe B.C, semi monthly payroll calculations and administration, annual tax preparation and filing services. The cost is $12.50 per week per employee.

housekeeper placement service

Are you looking for an experienced housekeeper?

To start the process, call our office (604) 566 9280, and tell us what you need.

Cost

No charge is made until you make an offer of employment to the applicant. The wage for Nooks & Nannies workers is $15.00 - $20.00 per hour.

Upon an accepted offer of employment, Nooks & Nannies will provide you with a personalized contract that clearly outlines your needs and the duties to be performed. This will be reviewed, signed by both parties, and returned to us. After all contracts have been signed we will send you an invoice for $1675.00 plus GST. This is a one-time placement fee.

Guarantees

We want to be able to offer you some guarantees to make this process a positive experience. Within the first two weeks of employment Nooks & Nannies will check in with you to make sure the placement is working out to your satisfaction. If necessary, we are happy to offer a mediation service to aid in communication during this initial stage of employment. However, if within the first three months of employment the staff person resigns, or you terminate their position, Nooks & Nannies will connect you with another qualified pre screened applicant as soon as possible.

Employer Responsibility

It will be your responsibility as the employer to abide by the Employment Standards laws of British Columbia and to be in compliance with current Canada Revenue Agency tax laws, and to have WorkSafe BC coverage. At Nooks and Nannies, we recruit professional Nannies, Housekeepers and Family Assistants.

We are seeking Nannies who have their E.C.E diplomas and/ or several years of recent child care experience. Many of our clients require Nannies who have experience working with infants and newborns.

We truely value our clients, they are excellent employers and equally, we are committed to providing the very best service to each staff member. We want you to feel valued. All families are required to register with WorkSafe B.C and C.R.A. Salaries range from $15.00 to $25.00 per hour.

Before a placement can be arranged, we will require three references whom we can speak to, St. John's Ambulance or Canadian Red Cross approved CPR and First Aid for children, a current Food Safe certificate, and if applicable, a driver's abstract. Nooks and Nannies will also require your permission for our agency to conduct a criminal records search. We are looking for candidates with an Early Childhood Education background, Postpartum Doula experience, and/ or extensive child care/nanny experience. We are passionate about families and children and are committed to providing service excellence.
